Lisa Marie never stood a chance. I think there is probably a genetic issue with addiction in his bloodline. I have some of those markers that make you susceptible.

She also inherited Elvis' painful digestive illness, which is common in children of 1st cousin parents (his were) and which led him to early painkiller addiction.

Gladys and Vernon were distant cousins, not first cousins. You can see by looking at them that they are ethnically different. The close relation was that Vernon's brother married Gladys' sister, but there's nothing wrong with that.
