Hate to break it too you but every car after like 2000 with OnStar,Bluelink,Ford synk,Ford link, Volvo On Call, BMW Assit, Benz Mbrace...every car maker has their version. Every one of these can and will disable a vehicle remotely. They are hard wired to the engine ECU and even if the consumer doesn’t pay for the service the modem is always on and the manufacture, the cops or fedgov could send a shut down signal if they chose too. Or if stolen the user can ask them to send that signal and get the GPS location of the vehicle for recovery ops.
After 2026 every car sold in the USA must have one of those modems installed and also the manufacture must provide to local LEO and fed LEO the kill codes to stop high speed chases. It’s not a matter of cutting the cord much more sophisticated than that it’s hard wired to the ECU and coded so if the modem is cut the car goes into limp mode or just bricks. Jamming the modem signal or GPS is a 20 year felony and the FCC looks for jammers with a boner they mess with aircraft GPS so its a life danger which they take very seriously.
Are you saying its alright, then? Good for you.
I’m glad I hold on to my archaic, unsophisticated vehicles!
