I am in Entergy service area and i guess not on ERCOT. If you look them up they serve Texas Arkansas and Louisiana.
I was out of power for hurricane laura when lake Charles was hit and transmission lines were down. They had to do load balancing while the lines were repaired.

This sounds suss to me, especially if it is accompanied by a bribe.
