Mayorkas Says FEMA Will Run Out of Funds Before Hurricane Season is Over; Agency Spent $640.9 Million on Noncitizens in 2024

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has spent more than $600 million of available funds to serve noncitizen migrants in fiscal year 2024, and now, according to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the agency doesn’t have enough funding left over to make it through the rest of the hurricane season.

“The agency is being stretched as it works with states to assess damage from Hurricane Helene and delivers meals, water, generators and other critical supplies,” the Associated Press reported.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida last Thursday, then plowed through Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia, flooding towns and killing more than 160 people.

More than 150,000 households have registered for assistance with FEMA, and that number is expected to rise rapidly in the coming days, said Frank Matranga, an agency representative.

The devastation was especially severe in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where at least 57 people died in and around Asheville, North Carolina, a tourism haven known for its art galleries, breweries and outdoor activities.

“Communities were wiped off the map,” North Carolina’s governor, Roy Cooper, said at a news conference Tuesday.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” Mayorkas said. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

Mayorkas made his comments as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris traveled to the Southeast for photo ops amid the devastation left in the storm’s wake.

Harris visited Augusta, Georgia, one of the cities hit hardest by Hurricane, two days after Trump, along with Christian evangelist Franklin Graham’s relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, surveyed the damage in Valdosta, Georgia, and passed out truckloads of supplies. During her stop, Harris announced that FEMA would provide whopping $750 in relief funds for people who have immediate needs.

As of April, more than $174 billion in American tax dollars have been appropriated to assist Ukraine. A total of $640.9 million has been spent to feed, clothe and house noncitizens.

Congress recently provided $20 billion in funding to FEMA’s disaster relief fund as part of a short-term government spending bill to fund the government through Dec. 20, according to the AP. The bill reportedly “gave FEMA flexibility to draw on the money more quickly as needed.”

Mayorkas claimed Wednesday that FEMA has been able to meet the immediate needs of Americans in communities devastated by the hurricane, however according to multiple reports, the federal government has offered little to no help.

According to independent journalist Breanna Morello, the Biden-Harris regime and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper (D) are refusing to deploy search and rescue teams to help Americans trapped after Hurricane Helene.

These teams have been in the area since Sunday, but have not been granted authorization to rescue anyone.

“They’re waiting to get authorization through Title 10,” Morello reported on X Wednesday.

Title 10 of the United States Code covers roles, missions, and organization of the United States Armed Forces, and establishes the legal basis for the Department of Defense.

“For some reason that’s not coming down,” she said.

Our tax dollars are being spent by people who are not on our side.

This should be a talking point for Trump et al, it’s not the money, it’s that they are spending it in all the wrong places on non citizens.

I want to know the daily cost and per person cost of these illegal invaders. That money is being spent on them as a matter of their regular policy and not on our citizens affected by natural disaster needs to be flashed on neon signs by Trump and Vance every single day.

Ridiculous. The government NEVER runs out of fund in practice. That proves that they’re lying. Or they’re just being vengeful.

Traitormayorkas has given aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States.

And the traitorous Republicans put off his impeachment in the first vote.

So disappointed Samaritan’s Purse let itself be used by kamala harris looking for photo ops.

If I donate will be directly to a church serving in a stricken area.

Year in, year out DeSantis competently deals with the constant hurricane threat to his state. There is no one better at it, even when he has to contend with an incompetent Federal administration and Mayorkas as his support. These things occur outside Florida and all hell breaks loose.

As usual, the Left has calculated politics into this tragedy and determined that those affected are ‘Clinton Deplorables’ and not worth wasting time or money on. Furthermore, if the Deplorables are unable to vote because of this disaster, so much the better. At this point the victims are just trying to figure out where to live and where their next meal will come from. There’s that big 82 Airborne Base in N.C. with all sorts of engineers and helos. Why aren’t they doing supply drops of food and equipment and bringing in heavy equipment to clear the roads? They aren’t because Biden and Kamala don’t want it to happen.

Explains why Lindsey Graham has been quiet lately--
"Sorry folks, gave all your money to a laundry overseas so there is nothing to help you now. And remember, I need your vote in 2026 to pass a national abortion ban which I proposed in 2022 right before the election to help thwart a potential MAGA influx in the Congress. But for now, yoy're in your own."
