I agree.
He did in fact have 8 kids - but by 3 wives.
Joplin got her start in Austin singing the clubs. Threadgills is where it all started. She was an incredible talent and sad ending along with Jim Morrison and Jim Hendrix all I think is about a year or two. So much talent wasted, it was.
He was flying for Petroleum Helicopters Inc. out of Morgan City, Louisiana. He also played in the local dives on his time off. He could have very well flown me. I was oilfield back then out of Morgan City.
She wasn’t from the E. Texas Piney woods.
She was from Port Arthur TX.
Crossroads of E. Texas redneck and LA cajun.
What a story to tell! Absolutely great!
Not military, otherwise broadly true.
He was working for PHI, Petroleum Helicopters Int’l, out of New Orleans at the time.
Okay, that is right by LA border. I’ve actually been in that area...Orange, etc. Must produce some “interesting” characters!🙂
She was a sweetheart - met her at the Monterey Pop Festival.
She wrote it about her lost on again off again love.
See her Love, Janis (Letters to Mom) album - in May 1968 she was dating a guy named George with whom she “spend a couple of days at the beach”.
In Jan 1970, she was dating a kid named Walter (the waiter).
In Sept 22, 1970 (her last letter), she met a really nice man (Rocko?) who wanted to marry her.
No. She never mentions him in her letters home.
My wife grew up in Port Arthur.
I have been going there for over 30 years.
Also the home town of Jimmy Johnson, coach of the cowboys.
Another candidate for “Bobby” is Paul Rothchild, producer for the Doors and others.
You must know it like the back of your hand. Sabine area interesting and historical.
