That vid of the BB&tHC at Monterey is one of my annual or so go-tos. It’s been over 50 years since the performance. Gurley is (imho) the marble model for psychedelic guitar. He died in Detroit a few years back. Oh, wow, it was 2009! Oh, and it was in California. WTH. Oh, that’s right, he was BORN in Detroit.

At the suggestion of Neuwirth, after they played a show together in New York, Kristofferson accompanied him on a flight to Larkspur, California, to the home of Janis Joplin.
