Warner Wolf Interviews New York's great center fielders of the 1950's: Mickey Mantle (NY Yankees), Duke Snider (Brooklyn Dodgers) and Willie Mays (NY Giants) - the only time all three ever appeared on a show together.

If you were a kid who grew up in the NYC Metro area during the 1950s, one of these 3 players was likely one of your baseball heroes.

Duke! My hero since the '55 Serious. Attended the game when the Dodgers retired his number: the centerfield fence opened and he strode to home plate while his exploits were recounted, flanked by Joltin' Joe and the Say Hey Kid. The Mick did not attend.

That video brought a big smile to my 80 year old face! I still remember going to Ebbets field to watch the Brooklyn Dodgers with my Grand Father. I can name all the Dodgers from those days. Gil Hodges, Carl Farillo, Pee Wee Reese, of course "The Duke", to name a few. Damn those were the days! I remember eating a hot dog at Ebbetts that was boiling from the morning until game time. What a great post. Yes I did play stick ball in the streets of Queens, NY. Loved the game.

We’re calling all fans
All you Giants ball fans
Come watch the home team
Running races round those bases
Cheer for your favorites
Out at Coogan’s Bluff
You’ll see those Polo Grounders
Do their stuff

Last home game September 30, 1957
I was seven years old
Never forget

Duke Snider was a hero in our neighborhood, along with Wally Moon, Larry Sherry and the rest of the Dodgers when they beat the White Sox to win the 1959 World Series. I watched it on our black-and-white Majestic TV.
