“Shocking New Evidence”
Uh - I wrote a grade school report on this back in the late 40’s - rejecting what was being taught about Columbus discovering America.

If you like shocking new evidence, check out the book 1421, written about the probable discovery and exploration of both east and west cost Americas by Chinese fleets, as well as a number of other parts of the not yet discovered world (by Europeans at least). This book points out the likelihood that Columbus, the Portuguese, and Magellan all had access to map information developed by the Chinese on those voyages.
