18 people have been exonerated from the death penalty by DNA
Its worth discussing
I’ve always been very pro killing when justified
But I’m ambivalent on this
Is that risk worth it
Maybe that could be argued
Most folks on death row are dead to right guilty
It’s those trials that were likely bit questionable that merit scrutiny
Throwing away the key isn’t the same unless you’re gonna Silverstein them which is why I will go on record here saying I think 37 years in box with essentially no human contact mostly underground is yes cruel and unusual

Yes,I really like DNA for two reasons:
1) It increases the chances that the truly guilty will face justice.
2) It lessens the chances that the truly innocent will be wrongly convicted.

That’s how I feel. If 100% guilty, then execution. But there can be no question about guilt.

A good friend of mine is a retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy who has even been interviewed on some of those real crime shows because he was a respected homicide detective.
I once asked him what percentage of perps serving death or life sentences did he think were actually innocent.
He gave me a deadpan look and replied "Damn near 100%. If you don't believe it, just ask them."
