I vote "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" ....

The old commie Pete Seeger actually owned the rights to that song. He made a lot of money from it.

But the Knack’s second biggest charter wasn’t “Good Girls Don’t.” The song’s original lyrics were not safe for radio. Their second biggest didn’t happen until 1991 with this;

Good song by Berlin, but they also had “Sex” and “Riding on the Metro.”

I guess that’s why they didn’t play that Monty Python song neither.

Booker T and the MGs.... Green Onions. They were all basically STAX studio musicians but I don’t believe they ever had anything else that would qualify as a ‘hit’.

Re: Post 122 - One Hit Wonders

Eddy Grant had "Romancing The Stone" in addition to "Electric Avenue".

'Frankie Goes To Hollywood' had "Two Tribes" in addition to "Relax".

"Putting On The Ritz" by Taco would be a one hit wonder except it wasn't his. Irving Berlin wrote it half a century earlier.

Sort of true. It’s a 3 chord song. However many guitarists played a B major rather than a Bm for that 3rd chord. :-)
