Music enthusiasts who prefer one-hit wonders over frequently-played radio hits can smile now National One-Hit Wonder Day is here.
Several X users have listed their favorite ones in honor of the day, most of which were released between the 1980s and 2010s.
Chart-topping hits like Gotye's 'Somebody I Used to Know' and Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' are just two of the many songs that were the top one-hit wonders

It depends on how one-hit wonder is defined...in Joel Whitburn’s Top Pop Singles 1955-1993, he lists those artists who hit #1 while it was the only song of theirs that ever reached the Billboard Top 100.
A few are:
Laurie London-He’s Got The Whole World (In His Hands)
Silhouettes-Get A Job
Elegants-Little Star
Hollywood Argyles-Alley-Oop
The Singing Nun-Dominique
Zager & Evans-In The Year 2525
Wasn’t Brandy (by Looking Glass) a one hit wonder?
I would assume that most of the groups had more than one song get recognized by charting....but I tried to list the songs which were “hits” and got lots of airplay...at least in my area...
I believe the Essex had another song and Percy Sledge ..but I don’t remember the songs as “hits”
Anyway. there is a lot of great songs out there. One hit wonder groups and famous artists who had a little gem which few listeners know about..
Could probably devote a podcast or radio show about one hit wonders for a long time before repeating a single song...
Blues Image - Ride Captain Ride
Agreed, that one’s better.
Speaking of Essex, David Essex - Rock On.
I know he was huge in England and had a lot of hits there, but in the US, that was it.
Yup. For pure lyricism that one's got it.
Don't you know about The Bird?
Video Killed the Radio Star — The Buggles
I vote "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens or "Girl from Ipanema"
Loved Rock On, as well as Ah, Leah! by Donny Iris
Speaking of Donny..... The Rapper - The Jaggerz
Perfection...I have long sought a Cosmic muffin...
Ram Jam
Yeah.
Der Komissar - After The Fire
You’ve got taste, and my vote.
Still think "Spirit In The Sky" by Norman Greenbaum is the greatest one hit wonder of all time. I got at least one speeding ticket listening to that song. "Driver's Seat" makes me want to slow down and cruise the beach, or the mall parking lot.
"Beach Baby" by First Class is another great song.
“Beach Baby” by First Class is another great song.
