How do people in those damage-prone areas justify living there? I might move there and have my own idea on how I’d justify it, but I’m wondering about those already there.
People have to live somewhere.
That said, there’s far more to this than just bad weather.
In any case, what those folks are on the hook for, to my mind, is refusing to carry insurance/being underinsured and expecting someone else to pick up the tab for their pi$$ poor planning.
When conditions on the ground change, and I’m not talking weather, then you need to adjust your planning accordingly.
Believing what the government tells you is dumb.
Trusting the government to bail you out is dumber still.
Demanding your fellow taxpayers to do it when you could have done it yourself is contemptible.
Keep a weather eye to the sky and plan to take care of yourselves and your families.
Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you.
Continuing prayers for all in harm’s way.
