...Except when the remnants of the storm park near the Missouri bootheel, if the forecast is right. The West KY forecast is up to over 4" of rain now. Soils are so dry though, and the period not short, that only localized flooding is expected if a couple heavy bands come through. It's generally a good problem (badly needed rain), not so much for the FL panhandle. :-(
We’re 90 miles north northeast of Atlanta. Since 4 pm Tuesday we’ve had 3.5” of rain. Most on Tuesday was a frontal passage. Since then steady light rain from Helene has gotten us to the 3.5” total. RIGHT NOW we only expect four more inches (or less) as the storm blows by tonight on its way to KY.
Max winds for us now forecast to be 22kts sustained, gusts to 50 at 5 AM Friday (per windy.com). We see those kinds of winds in the winter after a big cold front comes booming through.
We should be fine.
