I worked at Hy-Vee in the 1970s. I remember the big deal it was when they opened their 100th store.
It’s a lot like Publix. Employee owned. Clean and friendly. Profit sharing with their employees.

We also had our inside jokes.
Their slogan was “There’s a Helpful Smile in Every Aisle.”
We would jokingly say, “There’s a helpless frown on every clown.”
Or worse: “There’s a helpful whore by every door.”
