I provided anesthesia care as a Nurse Anesthetist for 30 years. I worked at a teaching hospital. We had excellent surgical staff . The surgeons corrected a lot of F’ ups done by surgeons at other hospitals. We even had a few of our own. Thinking rerouting plumbing is easy is wishful thinking, a lot of nerve and muscle anatomy that can get screwed up. Many older people who successfully transitioned wished they hadn’t.

A lady I met at a craft retreat said her ex-husband can’t understand why their adult children won’t let their kids visit Grandpa. Grandpa did the FULL monty sex change. He thinks it’s really mean that his kids don’t want their kids exposed to that.
But other than that, I don’t think he has any regrets.
