Good morning folks.
Last night I went to get on Youtube to check a couple of things. In addition, there were a few articles posted here that linked to Youtube. When I did, however, Youtube (on a Windows 10 computer) would not play or even pre-screen any videos. None, nada.
I tried to disable all my extensions and adblockers. Nothing worked. I check other browsers such as Edge and Palemoon, even basic Chromium, and all of those worked fine. I finally had to uninstall Brave, completely wipe all their data from my computer, then reinstall it. Afterwards it worked fine. This morning I checked my main PC, also a Windows 10 PC (this one I'm on now is my "entertainment" PC) and the same thing happened there as well.
I wanted to find out if this happened to anyone else. I thought maybe something installed that I didn't expect, or I had a general programming glitch. But it's very strange that the same thing happened to two different PCs.
Thank you for your time.
I watched Youtube on Win10/Brave last night (well, early this morning, technically) - Slow and laggy but I was blaming the computer I was on, but they would finally load. Ended up shutting down the computer for a full re-boot.
I tried that, I even tried completely clearing the cache. Nothing worked until I reinstalled it.
It's at that time I reboot, and then all is well. I have no idea why this is (deleting cache didn't work - I do that a lot)...
Close out all your windows.
Then open 1 window only on a not website page.
Go to your menu at the top, left click “Brave” and go to “Settings”
On the bottom left click “reset settings”.
On the right side left click “Restore Settings To Original Defaults”
You can also go to “Settings”, and click on “Privacy and Security”.
On the top right side left click, “Delete Browsing Data”
Web and browser technology gets into your machine so deep they (youtube) knows you run an ad blocker. Brave has ad blocker built-in, and a damn good one.
This is becoming a battle, increasing with every day. Youtube does track the viewers they lose and work algorithms to allow a measured denial of service to those they wish to block. It will only get worse.
In the end even Rumble will employ the same logic as these sites need ad revenue.
On other devices without blocking we see INAPPROPRIATE ADS being fed to children that are watching kiddie videos.
A Brave update might have screwed it up
Same thing happens here running Opera. It drags and drags then we get the page with the moon lander on it. And the message “Can’t Connect To The Internet” when everything works just fine on Microsoft Edge. Would like to get rid of Opera and Google but all our passwords and account information for bill paying are on it. A restart usually fixes it but Opera is a very weak link and you have to wonder why unless it is oversubscribed because of the influx of millions of illegal alien users. They are overwhelming all systems and programs.
Just the Deep State updating their spyware software, not to worry. 😵💫🤔🐸
I tried that too. Didn’t work.
You need to upgrade to Windows 7
I’m thinking the same thing. I may disable the autoupdates for Brave.
HAHAHA. My computers are dual boot with W7 and W10. I don’t normally use W7 these days except for specific things, but I did check out Brave on W7 (both PCs) and Youtube worked fine except it now won’t stay configured as my default browser. I have may to reinstall that too.
YouTube does play tricks
I went a whole.month with draggy videos. Sometimes I get ads sometimes I don’t .I do use an ad blocker .
Fwiw, I do not have a YouTube account so I am not logging in to YouTube , not sure if that makes a difference.
Here I won’t even consider any Youtube or goggle account. Why voluntarily help them track you?
Maybe just pour some Dr. Pepper on the keyboard?
Or buy a Mac, see if that helps.
My last microsoft update was about a week ago. Any correlation there??
Sometimes the Quality setting is set way to high and it will lag drag and you get that circle driving you nuts
