Democrats are evil, vicious and hateful.
This seems to be the kind of effect UV light would have. IR would just have a slight heating effect and it would be felt immediately if it was very strong. UV would not be felt and would cause sunburn symptoms.
Could have been a UV or NIR laser. Tucson have a significant number of optical engineering companies plus the Optical Sciences Center at the U of A and a large Raytheon plant that specializes in electro-optics. An engineer could have tried to aim a UV or NIR laser from a location outside the event perimeter at Trump. Since the beam from these wavelengths are invisible, it would be difficult to accurately point the laser directly onto President Trump.

But if you put tear gas liquid into something like petroleum jelly, you can smear it around. People then get affected when they run their eyes or whatever.
You could have the same result with really hot peppers. Say mix in ghost peppers into a liquid (even water) and pour it around.
Just thinking about the time I made fajitas and didn’t wash my hands well enough after cutting peppers.

Could have been highly diluted mustard gas (which is actually droplets, not a gas).
Trouble is that you don’t know what color laser the attacker will use. Laser protection glasses are made for specific wave lengths.
