You know that we the bug in the Moscow ambassador's office was energized by a microwave beam, which could harm a person if aimed at it.

Back in the 1980's I visited our Chicago MCI office in the Hancock building.   I was shocked to see that they had a microwave feed horn pointed right out of a window.   Of course the field strength of the distant end miles away, pointed at the office was negligible, but the guys sitting at desks next to a giant feed horn was disconcerting.   I guess they saved money by not having a long waveguide.

Yeah, a lot of RF energy in our life nowadays...commercial radio, TV, cellular, etc, etc..

I worked at the local NBC UHF affiliate for 25 years...221,000 watts “ERP” from the transmitter/antenna:
