I do the same for my Windows 10 machines. But for Windows 7 I use Comodo free internet security program. I latched onto it a couple of years ago and I haven’t removed it. It still works just fine on W7.

Win7 has been out of support for a while. You have bigger issues than AV. I can tell you with certainty that Win7 can be compromise regardless of AV or antimalware.
