I think this is related to the recent decision by the Biden administration to ban almost all Kaspersky products in the United States. I just found out about this, too, and am looking into it for me.
The full ban takes effect next week, so Kaspersky partnered with another company to take over its United States customer base for the remainder of their license periods. What happened to you was probably Kaspersky migrating you to the new product called UltraAV.
I'd look into it further if I were you.

Thanks for the link.
I had never heard of UltraAV, and I couldn't find a free version available. Yuck.
Kaspersky was good and easy. I will miss it.
