A 200 lb black bear is not a large one. I think this must be a mistake. An average male black bear in N.J. is 400 lbs, and can go well over 600 lbs. Females are smaller, but can go over 400 lbs.

Same on our property in upstate PA...200lbs bear is small to average weight...we have a
male roaming around this year that is in the 450 to 500lbs range...hopefully won't run into
him during archery season...lol

My experience with black bears is that they generally don't want anything to do with
people unless you get between a mama and her cubs and then my the good Lord help
you...
