I always wondered if Lazarus might be wandering around to this day.
Lazarus died and was raised from the dead.
The Bible states that it is ordained for man to die but once.
Lazarus did die and Jesus raised him from the dead. Would Jesus allow his friend Lazarus to face death a second time?
The Bible does not mention Lazarus again so we are left to guess the answer to that question.
I would think that if Lazarus was taken to heaven we would have been informed of that by the gospels.
Jesus raised three people from the dead. No doubt they died again or we would now be watching their selfie videos on the internet.
From the context of the “ordained to die once” it is in reference to how Christ’s death is the one and single offering for our salvation, when it comes time for our one judgement. The writer of the Gospel was stating a general principal of life (and death). What about Enoch and Elijah? They never died.
Hebrews 9: 24-28
For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
