Terrible list. All restaurants listed suck.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a real restaurant here.

I just spotted that Ferah smokehouse and cantina a coupke weeks ago. I was interested, but thought their menu seemed a little pricy, and I’m not a big fan of Tex-mex, but I’ll have to give it a shot.

It looks like Clara’s Kitchen is long gone.

RH Restaurant.

Only thing I ever order is the

SHAVED RIBEYE DIP*
Emmentaler Swiss, Au Jus,
Charred Garlic Baguette

Truffle Fries

Grilled Asparagus
Charred Broccolini
Charred Peppers

and a couple glasses of their house wine, which happens to be Duckhorn Cabernet....

Meet some really interesting people as well

The golden era of food in my lifetime was in the Reagan era.

There still are people that know how to cook:

If looking for a restaurant nowadays, I would look to a busy place with a substantial percentage of older people.

I do remember a time about 15 years ago when restaurants were suffering badly and a busy place was often not to be found.

The absolute BEST Mexican restaurant in America is in Highland Park(?), a place called Javier’s. I ate there on a business trip. Incredible.

I LOVE the Adolphus bar. The restaurant was pretty good too but a bit too swanky for my blood.

Nope.

El Phoenix, Babes, Risckeys, David’s BBQ in Pantego, also Red Oven Bakery in Pantego. There is a NY style pizza on Elm in Dallas. Uncle Tony’s txmx on Mockingbird. Burger Box in Arlington. All I really remember.

Oh, and Nate’s (real Cajun food) in n.Dallas.

A lot, or most, of the restaurants mentioned in this thread are way over my budget. I will offer one suggestion that I highly recommend. A buffet restaurant that I first frequented in the Houston Galleria area.

Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet in Plano, Texas.

The cost has, like everything else, gone up, but still worth it since the food is excellent and it’s an ‘all you can eat’ for the price.
