Wonder if their thinking is not clear right now. A mask ban would mean a few things: their left-wing government-funded agents provocateurs would have to go unmasked (which means zero trouble at protests, except from law enforcement of course); this goes after the Mahometan community directly (burka/hijab et al); and of course, the whole to-do with respect to what happens when they decide to do their next COVID-1984 restrictions.

Just for reference, “Garda” means police (from Garda Síochána,, literally “Guardians of the Peace”); the form gardaí (pronounced guardee) is plural.
