Tame Russian whale not shot, police says after autopsy report

“There are no findings from the autopsy that indicate that Hvaldimir has been shot,” says Amund Preede Revheim with Norway’s Southwest Police District.

The famous Beluga whale was found dead in the waters outside Stavanger on August 31. Nicknamed Hvaldimir (Whaledimir) by the Norwegians because of his Russian origin, the death of the Beluga made world-wide headlines. So also when the animal rights’ group OneWhale last week claimed a bullet hole was found, a strong indications that the whale had been shot.

The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries requested the Veterinary Institute to conduct an autopsy of the whale.

“We have now received a preliminary investigative report from the Veterinary Institute,” tells Amund Preede Revheim, head of the North Sea environmental section with the investigative unit of the police in Stavanger.

The police says in a press-statement that the visible wounds on the skin of the whale shown on photos to media are “completely superficial.”

These injuries have not affected vital organs or are of a fatal nature, the police says and adds that the autopsy report does not conclude what caused those injuries.

“An X-ray was taken of the front part of the more than four-metre-long whale, where the wounds are. Here, nothing has been found to indicate that these injuries stem from gunshots. No projectile has been found either,” says Preede Revheim.

He tells that the autopsy showed that the stomach of the whale was empty. “In addition, most organs had broken down. There is nothing in the investigations that have been carried out to establish that it is human activity that has directly led to Hvaldimir’s death,” adds Preede Revheim.

As they say, a lie is halfway around the world before the truth is out of bed.

The lefties used this as a major fund raiser.

Turns out the whale was not feeding, possibly from loneliness by not being around humans.

They don’t know any better than I don’t know.

Let’s just say that English isn’t their first language.

I occasionally visit this site, even though they are True Believers in the climate hysteria.

I do not expect that their decadent European values even come close to my Trumpian Texas value, and I allow then to be wrong about a lot of stuff.

Plus, I didn’t realize that Ukrainian drones had reached the 1100 miles up to the Kola peninsula, and I appreciate their perspective on the loss of their grandchildren to the war.

“...the death of the Beluga made world-wide headlines...”

First I’ve heard of it.

Nah, they didn’t barbecue and eat the whale. Oh, and that hole centered right on the top of its head wasn’t - surprisingly - caused by a Haitian drive-by.

I think it’s pretty safe to say the first five words of that headline have never been used in a sentence before.

I knew of Hvaldimir but this is the first I heard of his death also.

We often take for granted that animals will recognize appropriate food when presented in its natural form. Yet Ive seen in many animals from chickens to dogs that they dont recognize food when they have been cooped up too long with humans providing everything. You can let a coop chicken out in the yard and they will peck around but at least for a good while not really be able to feed themselves no matter how many bugs there are. An abandoned adult city dog doesnt know enough to eat the road kill possum when it gets dumped and a young dog always provided kibble thinks a dead squirrel is a not particularly fun playmate.

We know hes an escapee from a program, maybe he just wasnt catching on very well.

Of course maybe exactly the opposite is true. Just because there wasnt anything in his stomach didnt mean that he hadnt been eating at all. For example maybe he had been eating something inappropriate or contaminated. If his organs were breaking down he might have been poisoned. For example, I know that there is a type of invasive crab causing problems in that area. If those are the type of bottom feeders up a lot of toxins and he had eaten a lot of those not knowing any better then he could have been effectively dead for a long time before he stopped swimming.

Someone knew the story that he had been shot was going to amass millions of clicks. An escaped Russian spy whale assassinated by Russia before he gave up any information? This goes a long way to support anti-russian propaganda and puts them in the same camp of loons that kill all the pigeons because they are American spies.
