Bobby Bacala :
“Quasimodo predicted all of this”
What are ya gonna do?
It was all that Gabagool!
James played a great Tony Soprano but when he tried to play something totally different he was not that good an actor. He was in a Sean Penn movie about Huey Long and played a good ole boy southern politician. He was terrible. He was good in Tarantino’s True Romance but he was basically playing the same Tony Soprano character.
He was the perfect choice - but apparently gained 100 lbs. over the course of the show. The other actors said when there were eating scenes - he would REALLY eat the food (they wouldn’t), take after take after take....
He died after a gluttonous meal.
I never missed an episode. It was addictive.
Good actor but drugs and alcohol took their toll.
Tony Soprano was no Michael Corleone.
It was a pretty good show, but ‘best of all time’? Not hardly
That show was evil.
Enough Said (2013) - James Gandolfini, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. He should have been given an award for his part in this movie.
He was forced to accept that “he never had the makings of a varsity athlete”.
To be added or dropped from this pinglist, freepmail Albion Wilde.
The whole series was a study in contrasts.
Examples :
The likability and kindness at times of criminal psychotic killers.
The episode ‘University’Tony’s daughter (Meadow)at college and her ‘problems’ verses the stripper whore at the Bing, who is about the same age as Meadow, getting beat to death by that ‘but he’s a good earner’ super creep Ralph.
Get’s away with it because he’s a made guy.
Disrespected the Bing dat guy….
Loved when Ralph got whacked by Tony in a rage over his dead race horse that Tony was so fond of.
Tony to Christofer, “You’re the only one who knows about it.”
Pssh...he ran a glorified crew
I don't care how bats__t crazy Gloria was, I still would have, like the fist of an angry god!
Gandolfini was kind of one trick pony as an actor, he was great in his role as Tony but that was kind of it. In anything else I saw him in he was so so or okay. I saw him in the Redford film The Last Castle and I did not think the he should have been in that role.
I kind of compare Gandolfini to Ray Sharkey who played Sonny Steelegrave in the TV show Wiseguy, Ray was hitting on all cylinders in that role and he could play other stuff also. Left the world too soon also. Another was Kevin Spacey as Billionaire Criminal Mel Profitt on Wiseguy, great breakout role for him and he also could go on and play anything as well. The first season of Wiseguy was probably the best you would see in that genre and every story arc was memorable.
never liked Liotta! always considered him a B actor...
