There is a popular young couple on YouTube that gives reactions to old songs that their viewers recommend. The thing that constantly seems to amaze them is that the artists of yesteryear actually played their own instruments, didn't have to rely on autotune, sang with heartfelt emotion, and had meaningful lyrics. They often say they wished they had lived in those times.
I spoke to some college kids of my friends, and all of them said that all of their friends at college mostly listen to 80s Alternative.
I was riding along with them and they put on The Violent Femmes first album, we were all singing along, it was a great time.

I watch reaction videos too and love to see the young ones enjoying my music - 70’s and 80’s. And you’re right - many say they wish they had lived then.
There are indications in the comment section of the YouTube’s you mentioned that indicate that the rising generation are beginning to suspect that life really was better back in the day that’s such a music could’ve been made, or could have existed. I’ve seen quite a few such comments by the Youtubers as well.

True. I live in a college town. The coffee shops, restaurants, shops, salons, even grocery stores play mostly 70s and 80s music. There’s one coffee shop that has 70s and 80s album covers adorning its walls.
