They lost when they declared war on the US. Hitler was blind to the fact that Japan wasn’t going to help them against the Russians.

Yep....I've been watching a good series on WW2 and this point is made.

Once the US and our population and industrial capability were added to the allies, it was just a matter of time before the Axis powers lost.

It also illustrates the lack of coordination between Germany and Japan on their war plans.

Japan felt betrayed when the Germans signed the Non-Aggression Pact with the Soviet Union, which totally went against the terms of the Anti-Comintern Pact. The Russians kicked the Japs ass at Khalkin Gol in 1939, and Japan then signed their own Non-Aggression Pact with the Soviets, apparently Hitler didn’t get the memo.
