He may not have a degree in economics, but if he’s been working for a hedge fund, presumably using his math expertise to do financial modeling, then he probably knows economics better than most current economics professors.
It's not that being an economist is anything special or important. It's just not an accurate description of Eric. It would actually be an insult.
