When we were considering moving here to TN, we consulted City-Data.com quite a bit.

But to do that, one would need to actually go there. I try like hell NOT to go to anyplace that is less than 80% 1st world.

Up here in NH all the Oxy addicts switched to heroine and eventually killed themselves with Fentanyl or got clean.

A house in Tahoe went for $700K? What was it? A shipping container?

That's what I thought as well. I figured that even an old 1960s track home in South Lake Tahoe would be worth over a mil. Apparently not. Plus it had a reverse mortgage on it so they did not get all 700K.

I guess that's why they relocated to OK. They could not qualify for a mortgage so they had to go some ware they could buy for cash.

Young folks being given too much $$ ruins their character for, often, their entire lives. Too many young people given too much $$$$ is very damaging to our society, too

I could not agree more. He is my sole beneficiary and I will help him out in an emergence but I'm not going to subsidize a life of laziness. He's just a clastic case of failure to launch.

I blame his mother for not pushing him out of the nest, I blame myself for letting her do it. There is nothing wrong with him, doesn't drink or do drugs. He is capable of so much more with his life.

The good news is that I set up his trust so that he can't access the principal. Every month he will receive a very nice check and the principal interest will last him his lifetime.

Which he will need because he does not even qualify for Social Security. @!#^$%&

Hi

in my case, i would let him have some $ for a useful college studies or trades apprentice program. and maybe access to more $ if he gets and keeps a real job or?

In short, I would try using my money as incentive capital to get him off his ass and to make a life for himself.

fair warning, I’ve seen even highly-incentivized efforts fail with some kids. bit it might work...sometimes does...

anyway that’s in general how I would try approaching it.
if it failed, well.. he still sounds like a decent kid, and maybe someday he might wake up and actually want to do something for himself. Stranger things have happened...
cheers,
