Yes, but the NFL could change the rule. It is a smart rule. As late as the '70s, I remember the World Series was broadcast on both NBC/ABC and WPIX-11 in New York City. Channel 11 had the Yankee announcers, so Yankee fans would watch to get Phil Rizzuto instead of Joe Garagiola. Then, Channel 11 was forced to use the network feed, then it was cut out altogether. More money more MLB short-term, very costly long term as the children stopped growing up around baseball.
