I was on this for almost a year. My doctor wants to try another drug for my peripheral neuropathy and told me to wean off this over 3 weeks. I weaned off in 4 weeks and have never felt so horrible in all my life. I decided to go back on it after a week and after 4 days, feeling better.

The kicker is you are supposed to wean off of it over a much longer period of time because of the massive side-effects. Studies show that depending on how long you’ve been on it, you should wean off over at least a year.

Needless to say, I am seeing a different doctor at the end of the week.

Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome can vary considerably between individuals and also depending on dose and length of time on the drug. Some people can get away with stopping cold turkey (not recommended), others have to taper over a long period. Even the same individual might have very different results if stopping more than once at different times.

Good luck with it!

How severe is your peripheral neuropathy?

I’m on Neurotin (2x) which has me dizzy all day. Somewhat better than the disease!
