I’m watching Rings of Power too. The one thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of spare room in the lore for the second age. So Amazon decided to fill some things in in the gaps. A good example is the Blue Wizards. There was also an agreement between Amazon and the Tolkien estate that Amazon could speed up the timeline.
I was not happy about the portrayal of Elrond so untrusting of the three rings for the Elves. I don’t like Adar, there’s no mention of this in the appendices. I thought it was lore breaking when he ‘killed’ Sauron.
I’m loving the Moria parts of the story. There’s not a lot of lore surrounding the Dwarven rings and I think they are filling that in properly. So far.

I agree with the “murder” of Sauron, especially the way they did the slime scene which was pretty gross and I still have no idea what that blast of light that instantly freezes everything was all about. I am not sure these storywriters know what a Maiar is, turning him into a black glob of gloop consuming vermin in a cave. And yes Adar is a total construct of this series. And I liked the first actor better than this new one.
I like this Elrond better than Galadriel, she seems to be too reckless though if you recall in Doriath she concealed the truth about the Kinslaying so this nature of deception is a valid flaw in her character according to the lore. You would think by the 2nd Age she would have matured a lot more. Certainly, in LoTR she is deemed to be very great and among the wisest leaders of the Eldar.
If you have much knowledge of the whole fiction to enjoy this show you just have to put things on the shelf, anyway we haven’t seen the ending. I will keep watching to see how it turns out, I’ve already invested too much time to quit now. ha ha.
