Mr. Drysdale would have found a way not to pay anything.
Mr. Drysdale was greedy, manipulative, and obesessed with money, but he was actually pretty honest in his dealings as far as I know. A lot of bankers would try t o rip the Clampetts off, but Drysdale humored them, and grew their money.
