You are 100% correct. Any freedoms we think we have are just an illusion. If sone official wants that freedom gone, it’s gone.

Hate speech, hate crime, offense against public order, spreading disinformation, etc … they have an entire toolbox of made-up charges to use against you.

As an example, a UK college student called a police horse “gay” (yes, the student was drinking). That harmless remark got him arrested.
