I worked at the McDonald’s in Fallbrook, California and was happy for the work but was disappointed that the free food that had always been a part of the fast food industry during the 60s and probably since all time before that, had been tightened down.

What does that mean?

How does free food "tighten down?"

Regards,

The free food for employees policies had been tightened down in fast food and restaurants, it became more formal and very limited, instead of getting to eat all the mistakes and make yourself something to eat whenever you wanted, you got limited to one meal per shift and sometimes that was at a discount rather than just free, or else you were given X allowance for the meal, that went for drinks and milkshakes as well.

Fallbrook is where I added arm-wrestling to my pool game to hustle drinks and food in bars, food was very important to me and I could never get enough, the McDonald’s food control was a problem.
