So far this year we have seen Gone with the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, and Rear Window (last night). I've seen both GWTW and LOA many times as they are two of my top movies, but Rear Window only once in the past. It was a nice distraction from life and the world đ to revisit it. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the Close Encounters reshowing in July.
I am so hoping Jaws will be rereleased next year for it's 50th anniversary.
Oh, and for Mel Brooks fans, Blazing Saddles will be showing September 15 and 18. I hope no censorship. That would be a crime.
Oh and other old movies I have seen on the bigscreen in the not so recent past that were rereleased are 2001 and Alien.
I’m still hopin’ for the American favorite, “Song of the South” from my childhood. I loved Uncle Remus. Zippidy Doo Dah!
retreating to the old movies and tv shows is the way to go. Best way possible to say the producers of the modern day shat, they we aren’t interested in your PC, woke, minority heavy creations.
Fascinating interview. Gorgeous woman. Had to laugh when she said “My mother wanted me to become a stripper”!
I am waiting for Godfather 2 to come back. I saw Godfather for the first time on the big screen for the 25th anniversary rerelease in 1997. It made a difference. Coppola knows how to film for a theatre.
Saw ârear windowâ last night. You know the whole movie is from his apartment right? In the theater you feel like youâre in there. Her clothes alone make it a great watch. Edith Hrad costume designer. Great score. Delightful
Fathom shows operas as well -missed Turandot. Saw some of Porgy and Bess.
I’d love to see The Godfathers on the big screen.
Yep. However, this summer, âTwistersâ is good. âThe Fall Guyâ very nice.
I really enjoyed seeing it on the big screen. Quite a few people in the theatre last night, too.
Certainly not interested in anything modern. The music. The movies. The TV shows. The have completely ruined everything.
fall guy was pretty good. Also saw Trapped, that was surprisingly good.
Grace lived up to her name.
Yes, I am so glad I waited to see it on the big screen. At the time, I knew little of the story. The movement from Don Vitoâs dark office to the sunny wedding. The development of the characters. As I had assumed to title only referred to Vito, Ihad NO IDEA how the showdown between Michael and Sollozzo/McCluskey was going to go. A great movie experience.
All I watch are classic films. TCM is mostly great.
I can’t lie, I do go to the movies, but not nearly as much as I used too. Movies are no longer entertainment, but a lecture, I want to be entertained, not lectured at.
Yes, I do revisit and find “new” things on Tubi and Pluto when I have the time.
Before my second son left for his infantry training in the Marines in January, we had a great time “renting” a few of my old faves from the 70s. Cuckoo’s Nest. Deer Hunter. Dog Day Afternoon. And the two Godfathers.
Thanks so much! I had no idea, but I don’t get out much :)
I’d like to think I’ll actually go see some of these :D
I know. It’s turned me completely off. I stopped going to the movies regularly about 93. Not because of wokeness. I guess just other interests at the time. Then having kids. But other than a few movies here and there and taking my kids to some early Pixar movies, I’m just no longer interested.
