Firstly, AGI won’t be a sudden leap forward, making it easy for the government to intervene and seize control. Instead, AI will gradually evolve into AGI—and it’s already nearing that point in advanced labs.
If companies like OpenAI anticipate the government perceiving their AI as too powerful and consider a takeover, the company may downplay its AI platform’s capabilities, making it seem far less powerful than it truly is.
However, there’s a significant risk that a future authoritarian government—especially if certain Marxist ideologies gain influence—might attempt to control all AI. This could happen not just because AI is a powerful tool, but because it facilitates free speech, including speech that challenges or exposes the truth about the government. Such speech would be a threat to totalitarian regimes.
BTW, I asked ChatGPT what it thought of the above comment. Its response was that, as an AI platform, it couldn’t disagree with it.;-)
As an aside, it did try to argue that Marxism doesn’t necessarily mean an authoritative government. I disagreed with it and asked it to give me one Marxist country—just one—that hasn’t had an authoritative government and it politely apologized and admitted that it couldn’t name a single country.
This is kind of why I hope AI takes over and that the AI that does is Grok.
Human marxists are irreversibly entrenched in every western institution like a metastatic stage 4 terminal cancer that can no longer be removed without gutting the patient like a fish.
AI is the only hope left for being governed by something that, even if it is incapable of actually caring about humans, doesn’t actively despise us and want to do us harm like the cultural Marxists do if you don’t tick their favoured group identity boxes.
Israel. What is a kibbutz other than a commune?
