First off I was giving you examples of people having to comply with the law to have a legal marriage, that was true then and for centuries before and marriage law and licenses predate any issue with black/white marriage whether the law was controlled by the Catholic church or the King, or the colonial govts., or the states.

If you don’t want a legal marriage then skip it, and of course if you ever want it to be legal for some reason such as social security or death benefit, I’m sure that you will come up with what the laws says you need to establish that it meets their requirements, I don’t know how the Mormons and Muslims handle their multiple marriages that are kept away from law compliance.

A marriage without a state issued license IS A LEGAL MARRIAGE. COMPLETELY legal.
PERIOD!

While I respect your posts on other matters, here, you are in error on the legal facts.

And social security? Good luck with that in 7-10 years. Everyone who paid in, by force, will never regain what they paid, nor the interest they could have earned. It’s a ponzi scheme and always has been. Hardly an incentive to introduce the state into a marriage. Granted, 40 years ago, many believed it would carry them through retirement, but with its income limiting punishments and taxes upon it, plus soon insolvency, that notion is now like dissipating fog, or catching the wind.

Have a great evening.
Off to have a couple of adult beverages with friends.

Respectfully,
Z
