“Salt and cooking aficionados know that potassium chloride is not an acceptable substitute for NaCl in seasoning foods.”
.
“Tasty food” isn’t this octogenarian’s problem...!
;)
I eat many of those foods regularly. I also take supplements. When I was taking 99mg/day potassium, I started craving salt and salty foods. Ate bowls and bowls of popcorn, etc. Cut back to 50mg and the outsize craving for salted stuff went away.
From the article: “It’s estimated that less than 0.015% of American adults meet their daily potassium needs (3Trusted Source).” If 99.985% of adults do not get the potassium they need, and yet many live very long and seemingly healthy lives, who set the “need” and what evidence is there it IS a “need”?
This is fairly common in modern nutrition. We’re told we need 30 grams of fiber a day but why 30? What is the evidence for it?
We’re told we should strictly limit saturated fat, so why is it many “carnivores” - or many Keto types - report feeling healthier than ever by eating far MORE saturated fat?
Is it possible, as RFK, Jr thinks, that our government and “trusted names in medicine” are full of poop? And ignoring the mins and maxes is OK because the folks who set those are about as believable as those who say “Some women have penises!”?
