“Eat red meat.”

Getting the RDA is hard for women even before factoring in heavy menses. And it seems like the non-doctors providing medical care to us are poorly trained regarding iron.
Women - get your ferritin checked, do your stupid three month trial of iron pills to appease the insurance company, and then tell your doctor the iron pills cause problems (upset stomach, constipation) and you would like an iron infusion. Do not be satisfied until your ferritin is over 50!
Brain fog and fatigue from low ferritin is real - you don’t have to live that way!
When young my gynecologist often found I had anemia and low iron. I would take iron tablets sometimes with improvement, but forget and slip back down. Then I read Adelle Davis’s book Let’s Eat Right to Keep FIt and Let’s Get Well. ONe of those books gave me the information to take vitamins C and E for my developing varicose veins. Within a month my veins were healing/disappearing, then I saw my doctor again and my anemia was gone. I subsequently read that red blood cells when one is anemic may only live 85 days, but when taking adequate Vitamin E may live 115 days. So apparently the E fixed my RBC’s life span by increasing it 30 days.
I never heard of iron infusions. Thanks.
