The female CITIZENS of the Roman Republic/Empire had plenty of rights, so much so the culture was feminized by the time of Julius Caesar’s “appointment”/tyranny. In fact the main downfall of Rome was the feminized culture due to lack of females reproducing and choosing hedonism over duty. The Senate had to generate propaganda campaigns designed to get females to start families. Took awhile for Christianity to generate within the populous. You are confusing laws with beliefs. Plenty of females after Constantine maintained their allegiance to their pagan gods and hedonistic lifestyle even after several Christian Emperors tried to eradicate pagan customs.
Our current dilemma is nothing new, feminized cultures are civilization destroyers. The biggest feminist in the 20th century was Vladimir Lenin because when you dangle career opportunities (Soviet females who had high aptitudes) were pushed in “white collar” careers, suffrage, and abortion you generate a powerful central State.
