Actually, HCQ is an anti-parasite. According to the Cleveland Clinic:
"Hydroxychloroquine is a medication that treats autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. It slows down your overactive immune system. It can also prevent and treat malaria by killing the parasite that causes it.
Supposedly gin and tonics were the result of British officers in Indian mixing gin with their required quinine daily dose to prevent malaria.
