I never understood the claim that Obama was a great orator. He spoke in a clipped voice and mechanically moved his head back-and-forth as he spoke. His words were not inspiring. Jesse Jackson was better. MLK Jr. was way better. Even Louis Farrakhan is better.
In all fairness, Obama was a train wreck without a tele-prompter.
