Mercedes is trying to blame the sprinkler system in the garage for not controlling the fire as its vehicle went into thermal runaway in an effort to deflect blame and limit their liability exposure.

It is known that sprinkler systems are of only limited value when EVs decide to erupt.

At some point, insurance companies will refuse to insure EVs (I think some already have). It’s bad enough when it catches fire in the owner’s garage, but when ‘mass casualty’ events start happening .... 21 people hospitalized, 8 hours to get fire under control, etc.

If it's available I would like to have a portable Lexan Vacuum Garage to park the car in and suck any oxygen out of the atmosphere and replace it with Nitrogen to create a noncombustible environment to keep the chance of fire low.
