If true, could prove to be a brilliant tactical move.

The panicky redeployment of forces to counter this invasion by Ukraine suggests a lack of reserves, which is a serious lapse in military planning often made by amateurs. The description in the article of Putin being deeply involved in the details of military operations rings true and indicates profound weaknesses in the Russian military system and a lack of self-discipline and competence by Putin.

Moreover, redeployment to meet the Ukrainian invasion at Kursk may open up weaknesses elsewhere, such as in the defense of Crimea. If so, this move by Ukraine may be the opening in a larger and more complex operation that aims at more consequential results. The loss of Crimea and the troops stationed there could prove to be a decisive blow against Russia.
