The night American sprinter Noah Lyles won a bronze medal, he had a fever of around 102 degrees Fahrenheit, according to his coach Lance Brauman.

It's what made that medal, in his last sprint at the Paris Games, all the more impressive to Brauman, who described the sprinter's condition and future Friday in an interview with The Associated Press.

Lyles tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and finished third in Thursday's 200-meter final behind Botswana's Letsile Tebogo and American teammate Kenneth Bednarek.

Remarkable to have won a medal in that condition.

I must admire him but he put himself in danger. However, he trained for this for years. I understand why he ran.

He was so cocky regarding the 100m. I figured he was just floating an excuse for why he hadn’t won the 200. Still not convinced, to be honest. I did not enjoy watching him, particularly, but I thoroughly enjoyed the other track and field athletes, both mens and womens!

I considered that too. But he had actually quarantined himself a day or two before the 200.

And, seriously, why was Lyles breathing in the faces of the medical staff after his race KNOWING he had tested positive? I understand why he wasn’t wearing a mask, since he had just run, but he owed it to them to tell them to put on masks. I was excited to see Kenny Bednarek take the silver!

True. I did see the footage of him masked up in the day or two before the 200m. Well, anyway, I wasn’t broken up over his loss, lol.

I’m old enough to remember when Michael Jordan played in the NBA finals with a temperature hot enough to boil water and nobody was even the slightest bit critical.

Don't worry, I'm sure those medics were all vaxxed to the hilt! And we all know how effective those masks are! < /sarc >
