But the story is factually accurate, at least the counterattack of a ridiculously undefended flank, which is just poor military strategy on the part of Russian generals to have left vulnerable. They relied on Ukraine not crossing an imaginary line on a map.
That said, I’m not sure why this story is much of a story. It’s a minor border incursion of a flank. Undoubtedly the Ukrainians will do some supply line damage and then run like hell (assuming they are not also commanded by morons who believe their own propaganda, which is a large assumption).

Here the Ukrainians crossed the Russian order and the Russians withdrew, surrendered, were unprepared, inept….but this is a “minor” incursion and they will run like hell soon
We will see, the “minor incursion “ in Kursk is still going on . I am sure the 3-4 armies I keep hearing the Russians have in reserve will swoop in “soon”.
