KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs and kicker Harrison Butker have agreed on a contract extension that makes the three-time Super Bowl champion the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.

Butker, 29, announced on social media Monday that he’d agreed to a four-year deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal keeps Butker in Kansas City through the 2028 season.

The Georgia Tech product has been a part of all three Super Bowl-winning Chiefs teams in the past five seasons. In Super Bowl LVIII, Butker made the longest field goal in Super Bowl history.

This off-season, Butker made headlines after giving a controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College. In the fallout, Butker’s jersey became one of the most popular jerseys in the NFL.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Butker represented himself in the negotiations.

Way to go, Chiefs (although he no doubt earns his pay every week). ... This from a Niners fan.

“Controversial” comments: Get married young, wife be a stay at home spouse, have several children, go to church.
.
We now live on a strange planet if those comments are controversial...Bizarro World.

Indeed. We find ourselves in an America where Harrison Butker and JD Vance are “weirdos” while Richard “Rachel” Levine, Pete Booty Judge and Sam Brinton are “normal.”

Network reporter Ian Rapoport said Butker represented himself in the negotiations.

One of the few NFL players with the intelligence to actually do so.

Did they just tell us he’s becoming the highest-paid kicker without telling us what he’ll be paid? What kind of reporting is that?
