The Church stopped worrying about people's souls at least 50 years ago.
The only nexus most Catholics have with the Church is the Mass, where moral issues are never discussed, let alone explained. To them, religion is a boutique lifestyle enhancer. They may believe in Jesus, but He is only a source of comfort, not a guiding light for their personal behavior or convictions.
I get no pleasure out of pointing out these unfortunate facts. I wish the Church stood for something besides: Everybody be nice. I wish we had priests whose meaningful homilies gave kind but firm direction to the pew sitters. I wish we had bishops who were straight men who left boys alone and stood up to world like men. I wish we had a shepherd who cared as much for his sheeps' souls as he does for Gaia, open borders, and stamping out tradition.
It sounds like you've been going to the wrong church.
